Guru gives God’s Grace – Radhanath Swami

A real guru teaches according to the previous masters. He is the humble servant of his guru.  His teaching process is very simple.  If we find someone, who is teaching surrender to God, is coming in a line of such gurus and is humbly following his master, then he is the right guru.

It is not a question of mystic powers; it is not a question of magic shows. It is not a question of guru who reads minds, or creates articles out of the veneer, or has millions and billions and trillions of disciples.  A guru is simply a humble servant of the Lord teaching us how to be a humble servant of the Lord, according to the word of scriptures and according to the previous saints. That is all. He simply presents the truth in his life and  in his words.

If we are sincere, we understand these things and we search, then God will lead us to the proper guru, and the Guru will reveal God to us. It is not very difficult.  We need such a person we can trust, “Yes, through him, I am receiving the divine grace of the Lord.”

This is a simple and practical formula given by Radhanath Swami for selecting a guide for spiritual advancement. There are items to avoid and these are the number of followers and the magical powers. But this is where one is initially attracted to. The reason is the long association with material concepts – the herd mentality and instant gratification. Then, there are items to look for and these are checks and balances with holy scriptures and former and contemporary saints, exemplary behaviour, fidelity is transmitting message, and teach by example. The most important lesson is to have a serving attitude. Only then can God use the master as a medium to approach general masses.

To identify a genuine Guru, Radhanath Swami has courageously brought out the internal pure qualities which he should possess, rather than the more popular but faulty notions of today’s “Guru”.

A real guru is representative of God.. He never cheats anyone and teaches to clean the heart first to seek a guru. In this stage God Himself sends a guru to such pure heart-person.
He never demands someone to accept him as a guru.
Radhanath Swami is such an ideal guru.

Radhanath Swami Articles

Radhanath swami

The articles on this site are based on the classes given by Radhanath Swami over the years.

Radhanath Swami is a source of inspiration for several projects, both in India and outside of it. Radhanath Swami is also a great source of inspiration for several thousands of people aspiring to seek spiritual enlightenment in the line of bhakti yoga. His students come from various walks of life, age groups, castes, races, and nationalities.

In 1970, at the age of 19, Radhanath Swami started his journey of spiritual quest in Europe. While at Greece, a voice within him directed him towards India. Radhanath Swami set off for his destination by hitchhiking. After meeting several people and studying various paths of spiritual enlightenment along the way, he finally reached India. Radhanath Swami’s experiences through the journey enabled him to understand truth from all cultural perspectives. The sufferings and exploitations he endured on this path made Radhanath Swami more determined and focused; it increased his faith and humility. Radhanath Swami’s uncompromising determination to find a guru who could provide answers for his questions made him reach the holy land of Vrndavan, India, the holy place of Radha and Krsna. The deep realizations that Radhanath Swami gained in his travels now reflect in his teachings.

Radhanath Swami learned from many but accepted one guru. Radhanath Swami’s surrender and service to his spiritual master is a great source of inspiration to all his followers. Radhanath Swami’s lectures, kirtans, and yatras sustain the spiritual lives of many. Radhanath Swami’s explanation of complex topics of scriptures and the insight that he provides into apparently confusing philosophical topics is amazing.
