Radhanath Swami’s humorous description of Hanuman’s yoga

My guru Srila Prabhupad used to say that our beloved Lord does not see the things that we offer. He is Sarvalokamaheshwaram. (Krishna tells in the Gita that he is already the proprietor and the source of everything that exists.) However, the Lord accepts our intention, our love, our devotion, our compassion, and our willingness to please him. He is bhaktavatsal, he is willing to beconquered by that love although he is unconquerable.

There is a story of how Hanuman conquered Lord Ram by his love. One day hanuman happened to see Sitadevi putting a red liquid powder called sindhur on her hair part. Hanuman asked Sita, “Why are you putting that red in your hair part?” She smiled and said, “Because it pleases Ram. It’s a sign of showing chastity towards our beloved.”

So the next day Sita and Ram saw Hanuman completely covered with the thick layer of that sindur, from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. All they could see were his eyes; everything else was red.

Ram asked, “Hanuman, what are you doing?”

Hanuman replied, “Sita said that putting this sindhur on her head is pleasing to you. So I wanted to please you so much that I have covered my body with it.”

This is Hanuman’s yoga: giving pleasure to Lord Rama.
