Is everything coming from something or is everything coming from nothing? Now, in our scientific investigation and in our practical perception of world around us, have we ever have found anything coming from nothing ? Where do we come from? From our father and mother. Where did they come from? Their father and mother. Where does the tree come from? From a seed. Where does the seed come from? Another tree.
So when everything within creation that anyone has ever seen is coming from something, then to say that ultimately everything coming from nothing, is that possible? Is that logical? Is that scientific? What to speak of entire universe—the entire creation which is operating in such an incredibly scientific manner. The technology of one’s own body is greater than best computers ever made by man. Have they just come from nothing?
If everything comes from something, that something is the definition of God. The Brahma sutra, the essence of Vedic knowledge, explains Janmady asya yatah [Srimad Bhagwatam 1.1.1]: “God is the absolute truth, it is Him from whom everything emanates.” Obviously, that something from which everything emanates is not something ordinary like me or you. It is something much greater.
The Bhagvad Gita, the Koran, the Torah, the Granth Sahib are the message coming from that something.
