With every blooming of a flower, with every song of a bird, in both the sorrows and the joys of life, we can find great fulfillment if we are trying to understand what God is trying to teach us. Srila Prabhupada gave a very simple instruction which, if we follow, brings great fulfillment and excitement to life. He told us, “We should always see through the eyes of the scriptures. A learned person does not see with his eyes, he sees with his ears.” What we witness in the world, we must learn to process that information through the knowledge we have acquired from the Holy Scriptures and the great saintly people. Therefore, anything that happens in the world—in our own life, in the lives of those who are around us, national or international events—we try to interpret in such a way that it gives us real understanding and realization. This is how we should always be absorbed in the world. If we try to see everything through the eyes of the scriptures, then life becomes the most exciting, fulfilling adventure at every moment; and in every moment, we come closer and closer to God.
What happens when we go to school/college, become graduates/post garduates? Our vision/perceptions of this world changes based on how much we have learnt – our life takes on a new dimension, which was not there before. Same way when we understand Vedic knowledge as explained here we get a higher/deeper- much needed- perspective of life…

If we deeply analyze ourselves this is how we form our perspectives – its from what we have heard from people (our teachers, family memembers, friends etc) from childhood…as we grow older we add our own inclinations to see what to accept and what to reject!
The problem with this method is that all of us are on relative platform and bound to commit mistakes.
Spiritual path recommends us to use bonafide sastra as the source – which is given by the absolute and hence not error prone. We get the best advice this way and can perfect our lives…so we have to see through the ears…
