Austerity of Speech

Our conditioned tendency is to criticize others, and to try to convince people that we are very special and wonderful in whatever field we maybe endeavoring. If I am an entrepreneur, I want people to think I am the best entrepreneur. If I am a homemaker, I want everyone to think I am the best homemaker doing the best duties. If we are spiritualists, we think we are the most illustrious, pure-hearted, magnanimous souls.

However, a spiritualist who understands what is actually his or her welfare, curbs this tendency of speech. No talking nonsense about materialistic activities, no boasting about our own virtues, because these activities of gossips and mundane talk are like a prostitute that steals away our spiritual chastity.
