The earth’s wealth is in the form of water because nothing can survive without water. Without water, there is no food. We may have big factories and big refineries but we cannot drink oil nor eat motor cars. We need food. The food grains are born of rain. No rain, no food. No rain, no fortune.
The Holy Name is like water. Hearing and chanting the glories of Lord is the water that nourishes the dried up heart and allows the seed of love to grow. The Holy Name is the mercy of God; it’s like rain. When we taste the Holy Name with tongue, the dried up desert like tongue becomes full of life. When that name enters into our ears, the great saint Rupa Goswami says, “It gives so much refreshment, so much nourishment, so much relief that we desire millions and millions of ears.” When the sweet sound of the nectarine name comes into our heart, it gives complete bliss and satisfaction; our senses become inert by tasting its sweetness.

Our parched and dry desert like heart, tongue and ears are inundated with the water of the holy name which nourishes and refreshes us, giving us life.
Beautiful analogy,so wonderfully explained MAHARAJ
As no living being can live without water,we sincerely pray that they all take to chanting the holy name in the same way.
Very nice answer
Oh! When will I taste the nectar of the holy names!!!
This analogy is so simple and touching. I can appreciate the benefit of the Holy Names even more as I can appreciate water.
Thank you Maharaj, for this wonderful analogy
Very graphic comparison by Radhanath Swami……simply brilliant…..
Equating GOD’ names to something as basic as water makes it extremely easy to comprehend the necessity to take to refuge of GOD and His holy names.
Absence of water leads to material death of a person; absence of the holy names of the Lord leads to spiritual death.
Thank you Radhanath Swami for explaining this important concept so vividly.
This gives me one more reason and inspiring me to chant more attentively. Thanks to H.H. Radhanath Swami Maharaj!
Thankyou for Posting!
