Radhanath Swami on Worthy Goal

Radhanath Swami on worthy goal

Radhanath Swami on worthy goal

People make goals, strive with such determination and perform such great sacrifices—for what? For things that are so flickering and temporary that any moment there is the danger of losing everything
that we dedicated our lives for. Therefore in the Shrimad Bhagavatam ( a Vedic literature) it is said that an intelligent person makes his goal the Kingdom of God; he/she makes his/her goal of life only the pleasure of the Lord; he/she never puts much value in any of these other things of the world.

  2. All Glories To H.H Radhanath Swami Maharaj

How beautiful. It will put an easy end to all the unfruitful quests of our life.

    Hare Krishna

  3. Radhanath Swami Maharaj is emphasizing the point of making our goal Kingdom of God, similar to a Bible passage which states ” make your wealth in the Kingdom of God”.

  4. This is very nice.

One who realises the Kingdom of God as goal of life is a real Gentleman. No place for Gentlemans in this material world.

Maharaj’s explanation is very nice. Thank you very much.

  5. Wonderful statement – ” he makes his goal and life only the pleasure of the Lord”; – the secret for mind control.

  6. Once Radhanath swami said, “If you don’t have any goal in life to die for, you don’t have anything to live for”.

  7. Radhanath Swami is so wonderfully teaching that we give so much importance to that which is temporary, and completely ignore that which is eternal… time to wake-up!!!

  8. Wonderful.Radhanath Swami so nicely describes fallibility of the things for which we set goals in this world.

  9. This is amazing to see how nicely and succinctly Radhanath Swami has described the ultimate goal of life.

  10. How true it is, day and night I strive for these flickering material things, which can be taken away any moment. BG 2.40 comes to mind. Thank you.

  11. We do need an enlightened personality like Radhanath Swami to tell us what should be the goal of our life. Thank you.

  12. Radhanath swami makes prioritization of daily tasks so easy with these words – he never puts “much” value in any of these things in the world.

  13. yes.. we definitely work 10-12 hrs a day for something that will be taken away at any time. Radhanath Swami has so wonderfully reminded us to keep dedicating our time and effort towards the permanant gain – love of God

  14. Radhanath Swami’s brilliant words is urging us to understand the temporary nature of this world; if these words of exalted saints are ignored, a rude shock is awaiting. While these principles understood and life lead accordingly leads to ultimate success

  15. Radhanath Swami Maharaj , following in the footsteps of the past genuine acaryas, teaching us to make our home in the Kingdom of God and give up the attempts to run behind temporary things of this world. Thank you Maharaj.

  16. Treasures on earth are temporary and short-lived. We are like fish out of water here-HH Raadhanath Swami Maharaj

  17. Yes pleasing the lord is like watering the roots of a tree.So we should have some permanent goal.

  18. So true. General tendency is to make some temperory goal. But thank you Maharaj for teaching us what should be our goal.

  19. Very nice point. It was exactly what I should have heard now. I am running away behind the mirage in the desert. I think this point is from the discussion between Sri Narad and Vyas Dev.

  20. In the Bible there is are nice quotes which emphasise this point also. I do not know the exact words or the references (I would be glad to learn them if anyone else knows them) but here is the essence of the points:

Lord Jesus said: Seek your treasure not on earth, but in the Kindgom of God.
and…We have to be in this world, but not of it.

Treasures on earth are temporary and short-lived. We are like fish out of water here.

If you take a fish out of water, put it on land, give it beautiful women or men, money, promise of fame, high position and the most delectable dishes, they are of no use to the fish. It simply needs to be back in its natural environment of the sea. Similarly the nature of the soul is to give and receive love. Not only with God but with other associates of the Lord as well. Just like in a family, we have a loving relationships with our father and mother, but also our brother and sisters.

So inquiry as to how we can make the journey home, is real intelligence and the best investment of our thinking power, our time and energy. We are looking for the right things – happiness, peace and satifaction, in the wrong places.

If anyone would be interested on how to embark on such a journey which is full of excitement, adventure and challenges that enliven us…Radhanath Swami’s autobiography ‘The Journey Home’ will give a real-life inspiring account: http://www.thejourneyhomebook.com/
