Radhanath Swami urges us to have faith in the power, glory and grace of the Supreme

4 Have faith in power

“Success is not about the externals. Real success is your attitude.” – Radhanath Swami

Success is not about the externals. Real success is your attitude; you have faith, and with that faith if you are doing the right thing, you know you are doing something wonderful for God and for the world. And the results will come, and how they come is beyond our control.

In the Mahabharat we read of the Pandavas who remained faithful to Krishna although they were banished to the forest for 12 years. They lost everything, but they always had faith. When proper time came, they persevered and fought the battle of Kurukshetra. And ultimately they were the kings. These historical events are given in the scriptures to help us cultivate the proper consciousness within our lives. There is no greater self confidence than that gained through faith in the power, the glory and grace of the Supreme.

  1. Very nice analogy given by Maharaj. The Pandavas suffered so much in spite of being great pure devotees of the Lord. And their perseverance paid off at last. We see success in today’s world is very much materialistic and short lived. A person’s success is as good as his last triumph. If he/she fails even once after that he’s seen as a loser. We see this from so many examples. But anything achieved in the service of Krishna is seen by Krishna as successful. That’s real success.

    1. Nice thoughts Anandji! Somewhere else Radhanath Swami Maharaj says that if one tries to server Krishna, He takes it very seriously and reciprocates with the devotee accordingly. Lord promises to take millions of steps toward us if we take one step toward Him. However, it depends on how much faith we have in His promise.

  2. Real success is in having the right attitude and doing the right things with that attitude. This has to conscioulsy developed. This choice is never taken away

    1. Yes indeed. Krishna never takes away our free will, because He does not want us to forcibly love Him.

  3. By pleasing the spiritual master, one can please the Lord. Wonderful message from HH Radhanath Swami maharaj.

  4. Wonderfully said and explained by Radhanath Swami. Even recent examples we can see how Srila Prabhupada was not so success till he reached New York, USA. But Prabhupada maintained his attitude to just follow the instructions of his Spiritual master.

  5. Krishna always puts His devotees in difficult situations to increase their faith. Yasyaham anughrinami harishyed tad dhanam shanai. He puts everyone against us so that we rely only on Him.

    1. It reminds me of the pastime when Draupadi was being disrobed in the assembly. Krishna provided her protection when she surrendered everything to Him.

  6. Having faith in the Lord when everything is going fine is easy, but keeping the faith and remembering to take shelter of the Lord when things are in a turmoil is the real test. If we can see the hand of the Lord in all situations, that is real faith!

  7. The Supreme Lord reciprocates with the faith of the devotee in His power, pastimes, glory, grace, mercy with more faith… that builds conviction… devotee thus becomes fearless… the seed of faith can be planted by a pure devotee of Lord Krsna… which is dependent on the mercy of little Krsna… everything stars and ends with Lord Krsna, isnt that amazing !!

  8. Everybody want self confidence…Yes but without faith in God how we can be self confident in any danger..Radhanath Swami provides correct way for gaining self confidence. Just take case of great devotee little Prahalad Maharaj. Even as a small boy when his father, demon Hiranyakashipu, tried to kill him, Prahlad Maharaj remained calm and confident because he is having complete faith in the Lord and his strength. Eventually Lord Narsimha dev killed Hiranyakashipu. So if we could develop complete faith in power and glory of the Lord, he will surely grace with his mercy.

    1. Very nice thoughts. Where else in the Srimad Bhagavatam do u find devotees exhibiting extraordinary self confidence?

      1. Dhrauv Maharaj: 5 year lad, walks into the forest all alone to ask a Kingdom from God

      2. Prahlad Maharaj. As a 5 year old, he had immense faith in the Lord and always glorified him fearlessly even though his father tried to kill him!

  9. Often the external achievements seldom bring lasting fulfillment, the only resort is to change the perspective towards the world- Not just mentally but from within the heart. Thank You Maharaj for such a wonderful insight….

        1. I don’t know if i am advanced or not but its all what i have received from the teachings of His Holiness and his followers.
